Why do Lincoln windows, wipers and windshields keep getting recalled?
Thirteen recalls cluster around what you see out of and through a Lincoln. Power windows are the biggest repeat: 2018 Navigator second-row modules, the 2025 Aviator's rear windows, and the Nautilus over and over — 2024 and 2024-2025 cars whose windows do not reverse properly, plus two more recalls in 2025 for cars repaired incorrectly under 24V-597 and 24V953. Wipers are the second thread: wiper arms can break on 2020-2023 Navigators, and wiper motors can fail on 2020-2022 Aviator and Corsair. The rest are one-offs — brake fluid in the Aviator's washer bottle, air bubbles in 2025-2026 Corsair and Aviator windshields, Navigator moonroof deflector clips, and an Aviator wire harness rubbing the A/C pulley.
Warning signs to watch for
- A window keeps closing on an object or hand instead of reversing, or presses hard before it backs off
- Wipers stop working, or a wiper arm breaks, leaving you without a clear view in rain or snow
- Washer spray that smears the glass instead of cleaning it (2020 Aviator brake-fluid contamination)
- Visible air bubbles in the windshield glass in the driver's line of sight
- On the 2020-2021 Aviator: A/C that stops cooling, or a damaged compressor belt or wiring under the hood
Is it safe to keep driving?
No recall in this group tells owners to stop driving or park outside. The window recalls are pinch-injury problems, not crash risks — the cars are fine to drive; just keep children's hands clear and avoid the one-touch global close until the software is updated. The wiper, washer fluid and windshield recalls do affect what you can see: Ford does not restrict driving, but treat rain, snow and glare with extra caution, avoid using contaminated washers, and get the inspection booked. Ford mailed interim letters on the wiper recalls because parts were not ready.
What the free repair involves
All free, and none are over-the-air — software work happens at the dealer. Most window recalls are software: dealers update or recalibrate the driver and passenger door modules, or the body control module on the 2025 Aviator. The 2018 Navigator gets its second-row window modules replaced by build date. Dealers replace wiper arms and motors, flush the Aviator's washer system, and inspect or replace windshields and moonroof deflectors.

Common questions
My Nautilus already had the window recall done — why another letter?
Two 2025 recalls specifically cover Nautilus vehicles that were repaired incorrectly under recalls 24V-597 and 24V953. If your car was fixed once and still appears on a recall list, the earlier repair did not take, and the dealer redoes the module software.
Is brake fluid in my washer bottle a problem for the car?
The 2020 Aviator and Explorer Police Interceptor notice says the washer fluid was contaminated with brake fluid, failing a federal visibility standard. Dealers flush the system and replace the bottle neck, pump assembly, fluid level sensor and wiper blades. Avoid using the washers meanwhile.
Ford says wiper parts aren't available yet. What should I do?
Ford mailed interim letters on both the wiper arm and wiper motor recalls, informing owners of the safety risk, and will send another letter once the remedy is ready. The vehicle is drivable; take extra care in rain or snow.
