Hyundai IONIQ 5 front seat belt retractors may be loose
medium How serious is it? About this label
The belt still works normally day to day and the notice places no limits on driving, but it may fail you in a crash, so schedule the free inspection soon.
What's wrong, in plain English
The retractor is the spool hidden in the pillar beside your seat that lets the seat belt pull out and winds it back in. On some 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 vehicles, the driver and front passenger retractors may not be fastened down securely. A retractor that is loose may not lock and hold you in place during a crash, so the belt would not protect you the way it is designed to. Hyundai dealers check and secure them free.
What you should do
2. Book the free inspection with a Hyundai dealer, or call Hyundai at 1-855-371-9460.
3. Keep wearing your seat belt as usual, and have the dealer tighten the retractors at no charge.
