Genesis G90 driver-assist radar causes sudden unexpected braking

NHTSA campaign 25V833000 · Reported 2025-12-02 · Hyundai Motor America

high How serious is it? About this label

Sudden, unintended braking increases the risk of a crash. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

The radar sensor in the front corner of the car, used by the Highway Drive Assist system, can mistakenly think another vehicle is there. When that happens the car can brake hard on its own even though nothing is in the way. Being slowed suddenly at highway speed can surprise you and the drivers behind you. Genesis says to leave Highway Drive Assist switched off until the repair is done; the fix replaces the front bumper beam.

What you should do

1. Turn off Highway Drive Assist now and leave it off. 2. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls — VINs became searchable December 3, 2025. 3. Call Genesis customer service at 844-340-9741 (recall 030G) or your dealer for the free front bumper beam replacement; letters were mailed January 26, 2026.
