Genesis electrical recalls: blank screens, lost power and a fire risk

8 NHTSA recalls · Genesis · Electrical System · model years 2018–2025 (we track 2018 and newer) · newest 2026-01-16

⚠ 1 carries a park-outside (fire risk) advisory.

Genesis electrical recalls fall into three families. The biggest is a software error that blanks the instrument panel display — four recalls covering 2023-2024 G80 and GV80, 2023-2025 G90 and GV60, 2025 GV70 and GV70 Electrified, and 2025-2026 G80 and GV80 — all FMVSS 101 noncompliances. The second is the Integrated Charging Control Unit on electrified models: GV60, GV70 Electrified and G80 Electrified share the ICCU defect with Hyundai IONIQ 5 and 6, and the March 2024 recall was replaced by a new remedy in November 2024. The third is water: water in the starter solenoid can start an engine fire on 2015-2019 sedans, and water in the 2024 GV70 transmission harness can shift it out of Park. Genesis also recalled 2023-2026 G90s for radar that brakes the car unprompted.

Warning signs to watch for

Is it safe to keep driving?

Only one of these tells you where to park: the starter solenoid fire recall on 2015-2016 Genesis, 2017-2019 G80 and G90 and 2019 G70, where owners are told to park outside and away from structures until the relay kit is installed. No Genesis recall here says stop driving. Two come with conditions: do not use Highway Drive Assist on the G90 until the radar fix, and disable HD radio on the 2025-2026 display recall. On the 2024 GV70, set the parking brake and switch off the ignition every time you park.

What the free repair involves

The display recalls are software: the instrument panel or audio video navigation software is updated, over the air or by a dealer. For the ICCU, dealers inspect and replace the unit and its fuse as needed and update its software. Elsewhere it is hardware — a relay kit in the engine junction box, a repaired or replaced transmission harness, and a new front bumper beam on the G90 — all free.

Common questions

I already had the ICCU recall done in 2024. Am I finished?

No. The March 2024 recall was replaced by NHTSA number 24V-868, and vehicles already repaired under the earlier recall need the new remedy completed — inspection and replacement of the ICCU and its fuse, plus a software update.

Can the blank-screen recall be fixed without a dealer visit?

Sometimes. On the 2023-2025 G90 and GV60 and on the 2025-2026 recall, the software is updated over the air or by a dealer. The 2023-2024 G80 and GV80 recall has dealers inspect and update the display software.

Why does my Genesis recall notice come from Hyundai?

Hyundai Motor America files these recalls and handles Genesis vehicles, which is why the notices are issued in Hyundai's name. Genesis owners can reach customer service at 844-340-9741 to check recall status and book the free repair.

A recall applies only to specific vehicles. Check your 17-character VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
