This is the most severe kind of defect because a front wheel coming off gives you no warning and takes away your ability to steer or stop, so even though Ford has not issued a park-it order, treat it as urgent and get it inspected right away.

What's wrong, in plain English

The front wheel hub on these vehicles may have left the factory without the large spindle nut and cotter pin that hold the wheel assembly onto its spindle. Without that nut, the hub can shift out of position and damage the brake system, and in the worst case a front wheel can come off while you are driving, leaving you unable to control the vehicle. A dealer will inspect the front axle and install the missing spindle nut and cotter pin if they are not there.

Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2025-2026 F-59 and F-53 vehicles. The front axle hub assembly may be missing the spindle nut and cotter pin.
Safety risk: A missing spindle nut may lead to brake system damage or wheel detachment, resulting in a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the front axle spindle nut and cotter pin as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 4, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S27. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on April 16, 2026.
