The front wheel hub on these vehicles may have left the factory without the large spindle nut and cotter pin that hold the wheel assembly onto its spindle. Without that nut, the hub can shift out of position and damage the brake system, and in the worst case a front wheel can come off while you are driving, leaving you unable to control the vehicle. A dealer will inspect the front axle and install the missing spindle nut and cotter pin if they are not there.

On these Ford F-53 and F-59 commercial chassis, the brake lights at the back can stay lit even when the driver's foot is off the brake pedal. Drivers behind you then have no way to tell when you are actually slowing or stopping, which can lead to a rear-end crash. Federal lighting rules do not allow this. A dealer will check the brake pedal and fix the push rod on the brake booster if needed, at no charge.

On certain 2025 Ford F-53 and F-59 chassis vehicles, the switch behind the brake pedal was not installed correctly. Because of that, the brake lights at the back can come on when you are not braking, or stay off when you press the pedal, so drivers behind you get no warning that you are slowing down. The same switch also lets the vehicle be shifted out of park without the brake pedal pressed, so it could roll away. A dealer will replace the switch.

On these 2024 Ford F-53 motorhome and F-59 commercial chassis, the display on the dashboard that shows which gear you are in may not light up correctly. Without it, you cannot easily tell whether the vehicle is in park, reverse, neutral, or drive. That falls short of a federal safety rule. A dealer fixes it by reloading the software in the instrument cluster, the unit behind the gauges.
Reported 2023-07-21 · Campaign 23V510000 · Model years: 2023
Some Ford F-53 motorhome chassis and F-59 commercial chassis vehicles can develop rust in an electrical connector. That rust can disrupt the wiring network the vehicle uses to send information to your dashboard, which can leave the instrument panel completely dead. When that happens, you lose your speedometer and your warning lights, including the ones for the brakes. That falls short of federal rules for vehicle displays and brake warnings. Dealers will add a wire harness connector and check the connector module, replacing it if needed.

The bolts that hold the rear brake calipers in place may not have been tightened enough at the factory. If a bolt works loose, the caliper can move around and damage the wheel or the brake line running to it. A damaged wheel can lose tire pressure, and a damaged brake line can leak brake fluid, which means the brakes will not work as well as they should.
Reported 2022-07-22 · Campaign 22V528000 · Model years: 2022
On these Ford motorhome and commercial truck chassis, the bolt that holds the steering wheel onto the steering column can work loose and come off. The steering wheel can then feel loose or separate in your hands, leaving you unable to steer the vehicle. Ford worked with the companies that finished building these vehicles to replace and tighten the bolt at no charge. Ford says all 692 affected vehicles had already been fixed by August 2022, so no owner letters were mailed.

These motorhome and commercial chassis may not have enough lubricant in the rear axle. Without it, the rear wheel bearings can be damaged and seize up, and the rear axle or driveshaft can break. If that happens, the vehicle can lose power to the wheels, the parking brake may not hold, and you may not be able to shift into Park. A dealer will inspect the rear wheel bearings and replace them if needed.
