Shock absorbers are the parts that soak up bumps. On these trucks, a metal flange on the front and rear shocks can corrode and break, letting the external oil canister attached to the shock come loose and fall off. A heavy metal part dropping onto the roadway becomes a hazard for your truck and for the drivers behind you. Toyota expects to mail owner notification letters starting September 21, 2026.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to check whether your Tacoma or Tacoma Hybrid is covered.
2. Watch for your letter, or call your Toyota dealer or Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 (recalls 26TB14 and 26TA14).
3. The dealer inspects and replaces the front and rear shock absorber assemblies as needed, at no charge.

Summary
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2024 Tacoma Hybrid and 2024-2025 Tacoma vehicles. The metal flange on the front and rear shock absorbers may corrode and fail, resulting in detachment of the external oil reservoir.
Safety risk
An oil reservoir that detaches can create a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the front and rear shock absorber assemblies, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 21, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 26TB14 and 26TA14.
