Shock absorbers are the parts that soak up bumps. On these trucks, a metal flange on the front and rear shocks can corrode and break, letting the external oil canister attached to the shock come loose and fall off. On many recent Toyota and Lexus models, the sticker that tells you how much added weight the vehicle can carry shows incorrect numbers. That label is what owners use to judge how many passengers plus how much luggage, gear or cargo is safe to load. Because the figures are wrong, you could load the vehicle heavier than it is built to handle without realizing it. The dealer replaces the label free.
On these 2025 Toyota Tacomas, a joint in the front driveshaft can deform and then break. If it breaks, steering can become difficult while you are driving. On full-time four-wheel-drive versions, a broken driveshaft can also let the truck roll away while parked if the parking brake is not set. A dealer will inspect both front driveshaft assemblies and replace them if needed, at no cost to you.
When these Toyota and Lexus vehicles start up, a software error can leave the instrument panel, the display behind the steering wheel, missing important information. Your speed may not appear, and the warning lights for the brake system and for low tire pressure may not light up. That means you would not know how fast you are going, or that the brakes or tires need attention. Most vehicles get a free software update sent to the car wirelessly.
On four-wheel-drive Tacomas, mud and dirt can pack up inside the rear wheels and rub against the rear brake hoses. Over time that damages the hoses and brake fluid can leak out. Losing brake fluid means the brakes do not work as well as they should, so the truck may take longer to stop. Dealers will replace both rear brake hoses free of charge.
Certain Toyota Corolla, Corolla Cross, Corolla Cross Hybrid, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid and Tacoma vehicles, plus Lexus RX350, NX250 and NX350 models, may have been repaired incorrectly under an earlier recall. Inside the steering column is a coiled ribbon of wiring that carries power to the airbag in the steering wheel. A weld in that connection may not have been done properly, so the connection can come apart and shut the driver's airbag off. The airbag then will not inflate in a crash.
These Toyotas were sold with accessories added through Gulf States Toyota. When accessories are added, a sticker is supposed to be placed on the vehicle showing how much less weight it can now carry in people and cargo. On these vehicles that sticker shows the wrong numbers. If you go by it, you could load the vehicle heavier than it is rated for. Gulf States Toyota is mailing corrected labels to owners at no charge; nothing on the vehicle needs repair.
Debris got in the way when the rear axle was assembled, so the nuts holding it may not be tight enough. Over time the axle shaft can work its way out of the axle housing. If it comes apart while you are driving, the truck can become hard to control and your brakes may not work the way they should. A dealer inspects the rear axle, tightens the nuts, and repairs or replaces any damaged parts for free.
Inside the steering column is a coiled ribbon of wiring that keeps the driver's airbag connected as the steering wheel turns. On these vehicles, one electrical connection in that part may not have been welded well enough. If it comes apart, the driver's airbag is switched off and will not inflate in a crash. This recall also means these vehicles do not meet the federal crash-protection standard for occupant safety. Dealers will inspect this part and replace it at no cost if needed.
Above the rear seats are metal anchor points where the top strap of a child car seat hooks on. On these trucks, one or more of the welds holding those anchors in place may be too weak. A weak anchor may not hold the child seat firmly, so the seat could move during a sudden stop or a crash and the child in it could be hurt. Dealers will inspect the anchors and re-weld them if needed.
The sticker that tells you how much weight your vehicle can safely carry was printed with ink that can fade until you can no longer read it. Without a readable label, you could load the truck or SUV with more people and cargo than it is built to handle. Gulf States Toyota is mailing owners a free replacement label with instructions to put it on yourself. Letters went out June 30, 2022.

If it does, the engine can stall — shut off — while you are driving, including in traffic or at highway speed. The recall covers a long list of Toyota and Lexus cars, trucks, vans and SUVs. Your dealer will replace the fuel pump assembly with an improved version, free of charge.

Only trucks built with the bad part are covered, so it is worth checking your VIN. A dealer replaces the master cylinder free.
