The trim pieces that cover the pillars between the front and back doors can come loose and fall off while you are driving. A piece of trim in the road is a hazard for you and for drivers behind you, and can lead to a crash. Ford mailed a first letter in December 2025 to warn owners, but the fix is not ready yet. Ford expects to send a second letter around March 2027 when the repair is available.
The backup camera on these vehicles may show a picture that is warped, flickers in and out, or goes completely blank when you shift into reverse. Without a clear view behind you, it's easier to miss a child, a pet, or an object while backing up. Dealers will inspect the camera and replace it if needed, free of charge. Ford is doing this in phases by model and year, so the parts may not be ready for your vehicle yet.
When you shift into reverse, the picture from the camera at the back of your vehicle may go blank or come out scrambled. It does not happen every time, so it can look fine one day and fail the next. Ford says the camera itself is the problem and dealers will replace it. Ford mailed an early warning letter in January 2025, but the actual parts and fix are not ready yet. A second letter will come when the repair is available, expected March 2027.
These vehicles have a part in the rear suspension called a toe link, which helps hold the back wheels pointed straight. Stress on the rear suspension can crack one of these links and it can break apart. If that happens while you are driving, the car's steering and handling change suddenly and without warning, and it becomes very hard to control. Only Police Interceptor and SHO Performance Pack vehicles are affected. Dealers replace the rear toe links at no cost to you.
The heavy electrical cables that run to the starter motor and to the alternator may not have been fastened down properly when your vehicle was built. A cable that is not secured can arc, meaning electricity jumps across a gap and makes intense heat. That arcing can start a fire. A dealer will look at both cables, check that they are tight and secured, and correct them if they are not, at no cost to you.
