Gasoline can leak where the fuel pipe joins the fuel rail, the part that feeds fuel to the engine. Leaking gasoline in the engine bay can catch fire. Dealers will inspect that connection and either tighten it or replace the fuel pipe if it needs it, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 2, 2026, and affected vehicle identification numbers can be looked up on the NHTSA website.
On certain 2023-2024 Kia Sportage and 2022-2024 Kia Carnival vehicles, the strip of trim along the roof may work loose and come off. If it detaches while you are driving, it can land in the road and become an obstacle for the cars behind you. A dealer will look at the roof trim and either fasten it properly or replace it. Owner letters went out in March 2024, so the repair is available now.
The power sliding side doors are supposed to stop and open back up if they touch something while closing. On these vans that safety feature may not kick in every time. If it doesn't, a door can keep closing on a hand, an arm, or a child getting in or out, and hurt them. The fix is a software update for the computer that runs the doors, done at the dealer.
If your Carnival has a Kia tow hitch — installed at the factory or added later through a Kia dealer — water can collect on the small circuit board inside the hitch wiring. That can cause an electrical short, and the short can start a fire, either while you are driving or while the van is parked. Kia says to park outside and away from buildings until it is repaired. The dealer will check for a genuine Kia hitch and add a new fuse and wiring kit.

The part that controls the passenger-side power sliding door on some 2022 Carnival minivans can act up, and when it does the door may not latch securely. A door that is not fully latched can swing open while the van is moving, which could hurt someone inside, especially a child or anyone sitting near it. Kia dealers will replace two pieces inside that door control assembly, the drum and holder, at no cost to the owner.
The plastic tube that carries gasoline to the engine's fuel injectors on certain 2022 Carnival minivans may have been damaged. A damaged tube can let fuel leak out while the engine is running. Leaking gasoline around a hot engine can catch fire. A Kia dealer will inspect the fuel rail and replace it if anything is wrong with it. The recall started in April 2021 and the inspection and any repair cost you nothing.
