Kia Sportage and Carnival Roof Trim May Fall Off

What's wrong, in plain English

On certain 2023-2024 Kia Sportage and 2022-2024 Kia Carnival vehicles, the strip of trim along the roof may work loose and come off. If it detaches while you are driving, it can land in the road and become an obstacle for the cars behind you. A dealer will look at the roof trim and either fasten it properly or replace it. Owner letters went out in March 2024, so the repair is available now.

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your Sportage or Carnival is covered. 2. Call your Kia dealer or Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542 and mention recall SC292. 3. Bring the vehicle in for the inspection and any repair — there is no cost to you.
