These cars have a turbocharged 3.3-liter engine. The pipe and hose that carry oil to the left turbocharger can break down over time and start leaking. Oil dripping onto the hot parts of the engine can catch fire, and this can happen while you are driving. A dealer will replace the pipe and hose assembly for free. If you smell burning oil or see smoke from under the hood, stop and get help right away.
On some 2018-2021 Kia Stinger cars, a small valve inside the high-pressure fuel pump can stick. When it sticks, fuel pressure builds too high and the engine can lose power. That means the car may suddenly slow down or stop pulling while you are driving, which is dangerous in traffic or at highway speed. Kia mailed owner letters in December 2023.
A software mistake in the dashboard display can make the fuel gauge show the wrong amount of gas. You might think you have plenty left when the tank is nearly empty. If that happens, the car can run out of fuel and stall while you are driving, possibly in traffic or at speed. The fix is a free software update at the dealer that corrects the gauge reading.
Certain 2020-2021 Kia Stinger cars have a small piece of leftover plastic in the fuel pump's nozzle from when it was built. That bit of plastic can block the nozzle, so the engine doesn't get enough fuel. When that happens, the car can lose power while you're driving. A Kia dealer will check the fuel pump and replace the nozzle housing if needed, free of charge. Kia began notifying owners on October 29, 2020.
A fire can start under the hood, in the area around the control box for the anti-lock brakes. It can happen while you are driving. Kia first announced this in 2020 and later added more Stingers to the list. The fix is a new fuse kit installed in the electrical box under the hood, which is free. Until that work is done, Kia says to park outside and away from buildings, so a fire cannot spread to your house or garage.

A part inside the power steering unit on some 2020 Stingers with the 2.0-liter turbo engine may have been made wrong. Because of that flaw, the steering can suddenly become very hard to turn or even lock up while you are driving. If that happens you may not be able to steer where you need to go. Dealers will replace the whole rack-mounted power steering assembly with a new one at no cost to you.
On certain 2018 Stingers, a bundle of wiring that runs through the engine bay and into the cabin can rub against a sharp metal edge left on the left fender panel. Over time that edge can cut through the covering and into the wires themselves. Damaged wires can short out, and a short circuit under the hood can start a fire. A dealer inspects the wiring, replaces it if it is damaged, and adds a protective cover either way.
