Some 2023 Ariya electric SUVs have rubber seals, called O-rings, inside the front electric drive motor that may have been damaged when the motor was put together. Damaged seals can let oil leak inside the motor. That internal leak can cause the vehicle to unexpectedly lose drive power, meaning the car could stop pulling while you are driving. If that bolt is loose or missing, the steering wheel can come off the column while you are driving, and you would have no way to steer. Nissan says to gently rock the steering wheel forward and back with your hands to check whether it feels loose. Dealers replace the bolt free.
