What's wrong, in plain English

The fuel rails are the metal tubes that carry gasoline under pressure to the engine. On these Audis, the left and right fuel rails can leak. Gasoline escaping near anything hot or sparking can start a fire. Audi has already notified owners, and dealers will replace both the left and the right fuel rail at no cost to you. This recall began in February 2019, so the free repair has been available for some time.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your car is covered and the repair was never done.
2. Call an Audi dealer, or Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834, and reference recall 24DP.
3. Book the fuel rail replacement as soon as you can — it is free of charge.

Safety risk
A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase risk of a fire.
Remedy
Audi has notified owners, and dealers will replace the left and right fuel rail, free of charge. The recall began February 28, 2019. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Audi's number for this recall is 24DP.
