Audi Q7 and Q8 driver seat airbag may be loose

NHTSA campaign 23V868000 · Reported 2023-12-20 · Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.

high How serious is it? About this label

Serious in the event of a side crash, though the car drives normally and the notice does not tell you to stop driving — have the airbag checked soon.

What's wrong, in plain English

There is a side airbag built into the driver's seat that is supposed to inflate between you and the door in a side crash. On these vehicles it may not have been mounted to the seat frame correctly at the factory, so the car does not meet the federal side-impact protection rule. If the airbag is not held in place properly, it may not hold you the way it should in a crash, and you could be injured more badly.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your Audi is affected.
2. Contact your Audi dealer, or Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834, and reference recall 69GA.
3. Have the driver's seat side airbag inspected and reinstalled if needed — free of charge.
