The forks that hold the front shock absorbers in place can develop cracks. A shock absorber is the part that soaks up bumps and keeps the wheel settled against the road. If a fork cracks, the shock it holds can work itself loose. A loose shock on the front of the car changes how the front wheels behave, so the steering can feel wrong or stop responding the way you expect it to.

2. Contact an Audi dealer to schedule the repair, or call Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834 and reference recall 40O4.
3. The dealer replaces the shock absorber forks at no charge to you.

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2019 Q7, Q8, S5 Cabriolet, and S5 Sportback vehicles. The front shock absorber forks may develop cracks allowing the shock absorbers to loosen.
Safety risk
Loose shock absorbers may impair vehicle steering, increasing the risk of crash.
Remedy
Audi has notified owners, and dealers will replace the shock absorber forks, free of charge. The recall began March 18, 2019. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Audi's number for this recall is 40O4.
