Mazda3 Rearview Mirror Can Fall Off Its Mount

NHTSA campaign 19V558000 · Reported 2019-07-29 · Mazda North American Operations

medium How serious is it? About this label

Losing the rearview mirror cuts your view behind the car and raises crash risk, but the notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

On some Mazda3s with a manual dimming rearview mirror — the kind you flip by hand at night — the glue holding the mirror to its housing may not have bonded properly. The mirror can come loose and fall off, leaving you without a view straight back through the rear window. Cars with auto-dimming mirrors are not affected. Dealers will replace the whole inside mirror assembly at no charge.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your 2019 Mazda3 is on the list.
2. Call your Mazda dealer or Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500, option 4, and mention recall 3919G.
3. Have the mirror assembly replaced — the repair is free.
