Airbags that do not deploy greatly increase injury in a crash; the car still drives normally, but schedule the free fix quickly and watch for an airbag warning light.

What's wrong, in plain English

The control unit that decides when to fire the airbags can log an error and switch the airbags off when the vehicle's battery runs low. If that happens, the airbags will not inflate in a crash, so you lose a major piece of protection without necessarily realizing it. Dealers will reprogram the control unit with improved software, or replace the unit if needed, at no cost. Owner letters were mailed in July 2025.

2. Contact your Mazda dealer and reference recall 7525E.
3. Have the airbag control unit reprogrammed or replaced — it is free of charge.

Mazda North American Operations is recalling certain 2024-2025 Mazda3 and CX30 vehicles. The Sophisticated Air Bag Sensor (SAS) units may set an error code and deactivate the air bags, due to a low battery condition.
Safety risk
Air bags that do not deploy in the event of a crash increase the risk of injury.
Remedy
Dealers will reprogram the SAS unit with improved software or replace the unit, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 24, 2025. Mazda's number for this recall is 7525E.
