What's wrong, in plain English

The frame rail is a main steel beam that runs through the engine compartment and helps hold the vehicle together. On these SUVs, the rail on the passenger side may have left the factory with a crack in it. A cracked rail is weaker than it should be, so in a crash it may not crumple and absorb force the way it was designed to, and people inside could be hurt more badly. GM will replace the entire vehicle if the crack is found.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your 2020 Enclave or Traverse is included.
2. Call your dealer, or Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438 or Buick at 1-800-521-7300 (recall N192268310).
3. The dealer inspects the frame rail and, if necessary, replaces the vehicle — free of charge.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Buick Enclave and Chevrolet Traverse vehicles. The right-hand frame rail in the engine compartment may be cracked.
Safety risk
A crack in the frame rail may reduce crash performance, increasing the risk of an injury.
Remedy
GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, as necessary, replace the vehicle, free of charge. The recall began October 4, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300. GM's number for this recall is N192268310.
