Loss of steering control can cause a serious crash, so although the notice does not tell owners to park the truck, this should be checked before further use if possible.

What's wrong, in plain English

The bolts that hold the steering gear in place may not have been tightened enough at the factory. The steering gear is the part that turns your steering wheel movement into the wheels turning. If those bolts work loose, the driver can lose control of the truck. A Volvo Trucks dealer will tighten the steering gear bolts to the correct specification, free of charge. The recall started May 20, 2020.

1. Look up your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your truck is covered.
2. Contact your Volvo Trucks dealer or customer service at 800-528-6586 and reference recall RVXX2001.
3. Have the steering gear fasteners tightened — the work is free of charge.
