Ram ProMaster City can lose braking without any warning

NHTSA campaign 21V147000 · Reported 2021-03-09 · Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)

critical How serious is it? About this label

This is one of the more serious kinds of recall: braking can be reduced with no warning at all, so treat it as urgent and get the free replacement before doing much more driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

These 2020-2021 Ram ProMaster City vans may have a damaged anti-lock brake control box. That box manages the brakes so the wheels do not lock up, and it also runs the automatic emergency braking. If it fails, the van can lose braking power or lose automatic braking, and it can happen suddenly, with no warning beforehand. That makes a crash much more likely. A dealer will replace the whole unit at no cost to you.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your van is affected.
2. Contact your Ram dealer immediately to have the ABS module replaced free of charge.
3. If you need help or a loaner, call FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-1403.
