Ram ProMaster City turn signal failure warning missing

NHTSA campaign 21V728000 · Reported 2021-09-21 · Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)

low How serious is it? About this label

This is the mildest kind of recall on this list and Chrysler has not told owners to stop driving, but a turn signal others can't see raises your chance of being hit during a turn or lane change.

What's wrong, in plain English

On these Ram ProMaster City vans, the turn signals don't warn you when a bulb burns out. Normally, if a front or rear turn signal light stops working, the remaining one blinks much faster so you notice. On these vans that fast blinking may not happen. You could keep signaling a turn or lane change while drivers around you see nothing. The fix is new software for the computer that runs the lights.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your van is included. 2. Call your Ram dealer or FCA at 1-800-853-1403 (recall Y71) and book the software update. 3. The repair is free; until then, glance at your dash indicator to be sure both signals are blinking normally.
