What's wrong, in plain English

Cracks can form on the inner walls of the engine cylinders in these high-performance Audis. Those cracks can damage the engine, make it stall while you are driving, or cause an oil leak. Stalling in traffic raises the chance of a crash, and an oil leak raises the chance of a fire. There is no quick patch for this problem. The dealer replaces the entire engine at no cost to you, so plan on leaving the car for a while.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your car is part of the recall.
2. Contact your Audi dealer about recall 10G9 to schedule the engine replacement, or call Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834.
3. The new engine and the work to install it are free of charge; ask the dealer about a loaner while the car is in the shop.

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2021 Audi SQ7, RSQ8, RS7, RS6 AVANT, and SQ8 vehicles. Cracks may develop on the surface of the engine cylinder bore.

Remedy
