Audi SQ7 fuel pump bolts may leak fuel, fire risk

A fuel leak near a hot engine is a serious fire hazard, but only one vehicle was affected and it has already been repaired, and owners were not told to stop driving or park outside.

What's wrong, in plain English

The screws holding the high-pressure fuel pump in place may not have been tightened enough at the factory. If they work loose, gasoline can leak out under the hood, and any spark or hot surface nearby could set it on fire. Only one SQ7 was built with this problem, and Audi says that vehicle has already been fixed. Dealers inspect and tighten the connections, and replace the pump and fuel lines if needed.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls — these VINs are searchable starting September 26, 2025.
2. If your VIN comes up, call an Audi dealer or Volkswagen customer service at 800-893-5298 and ask about recall 23HD.
3. Have the fuel pump connections inspected and tightened, and parts replaced if needed, free of charge.

Safety risk
A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and tighten the screw connections and replace the high pressure fuel pump and fuel lines as necessary, free of charge. The one affected vehicle was repaired.
