Serious — a sudden blowout or tread loss can cause a crash, and while the notice does not tell you to park the truck, you should get the tires checked right away.

What's wrong, in plain English

Some tires on these trucks were left curing too long when they were made. Tires that were over-cured can break in the sidewall and lose all their air at once, or the tread can start separating and peel off the tire. Either problem can happen while you are driving and make the truck very hard to control. A dealer will inspect your tires and replace any that are affected.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your truck has the affected tires.
2. Contact a Chevrolet dealer (1-800-222-1020) or GMC dealer (1-800-462-8782) and reference recall N212336230.
3. Have the dealer inspect and replace the tires as needed — inspection and any replacement are free.

Component: TIRES
Summary: General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles. The affected tires were cured for too long during production.
Safety risk: Over cured tires may develop a break in the sidewall resulting in sudden air loss or a belt edge separation which could lead to a tread/belt loss. Either condition can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers inspect and replace the tires as necessary, free of charge, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 25, 2021. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N212336230.
