Ford Mustang front camera aimed wrong, disables safety features

NHTSA campaign 22V334000 · Reported 2022-05-13 · Ford Motor Company

medium How serious is it? About this label

Moderately serious: you may not get the crash-warning and braking help you expect, so drive without relying on those features, but the notice does not say to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

The camera that looks out the front of the windshield was not aimed correctly at the factory, so it does not see the road the way it is supposed to. Because several driver-assistance features rely on that camera, they may work poorly or shut off entirely. That includes the automatic emergency braking system, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, the driver alert warning, and automatic high beams. A dealer will simply realign the camera.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your Mustang is included. 2. Schedule the camera realignment with a Ford dealer, or call Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (recall 22S34). 3. The realignment is done free of charge.
