Ground wires in the engine bay of some 2024-2026 Mustangs can crack where they connect. These connections complete the electrical circuits for several systems, so a break can shut down the engine's power while you drive, or stop the headlights, windshield washer, air conditioning, or engine cooling fan from working. Ford has told owners about the risk, but the parts to fix it are not ready yet; repair letters are expected around March 2027, and the work is free.

In cold weather, the windshield wipers on these Mustangs may run only on their fastest setting, and the washer that sprays fluid on the glass may not work right. That means you can't slow the wipers down for light rain or snow, and you may not be able to clear away salt, slush or grime. The problem traces back to the wiper motor. Water can get inside the small computer that runs your Mustang's outside lights. When that happens, the computer loses touch with some of the lights — the license plate light, the side marker lights, and the tail lights — and they may stop coming on. Other drivers behind you may not see your car at night or in bad weather. A dealer will seal the body seams and replace the computer if it has corroded.

The small driver modules that run the LED headlights can contain a burnt diode. When that happens, the affected headlight can lose its low beam, high beam, daytime running light, front position light and front turn signal. On the Nautilus, the tail light, rear turn signal and rear position light on that side can go out as well. That means the vehicles do not meet the federal rule for lamps. Dealers inspect and replace the modules free.

On these Ford and Lincoln trucks, SUVs and Mustangs, the low-pressure fuel pump, which is the part that moves gasoline out of the tank, can fail. If it does, the engine can stall and shut off while you are driving. The repair depends on what you own: on Super Duty pickups the dealer replaces the fuel pump itself, and on all the other vehicles the dealer reprograms the engine computer. Either repair is free. Owner letters were mailed July 27, 2026.
A software error affects the backup camera. The screen may show a blank image when you shift into reverse, so you cannot see what is behind the vehicle. Or the camera picture may stay on the screen after you have shifted out of reverse, which can distract you while driving forward. Either situation raises the risk of a crash. A dealer will update the rearview camera software free of charge.

A software error in the module that runs the screen can make the backup camera image lag, freeze, or not appear at all when you put the vehicle in reverse. You could back into something or someone you cannot see. The fix is a software update to that module, done free at a dealer or, on some vehicles, sent to the vehicle over the air. Ford is recalling certain 2024-2025 F-150 and Bronco, 2024 Ranger, and 2025 Mustang, Explorer and Aviator vehicles. A part inside the transmission that routes fluid to the gears, called the valve body, may have been machined incorrectly. Reverse gear can fail, or the vehicle can move forward unexpectedly when you have selected reverse or neutral. That kind of surprise movement can cause a crash. The fuel injectors spray gasoline into the engine. On these vehicles, some injectors were put together at the factory without a small support disc that helps the rubber seal hold tight. Without that disc, gasoline can leak out. If leaking fuel reaches something hot, such as the engine or exhaust, it can catch fire. Only certain vehicles built with the faulty assembly are affected. A dealer will install new seals and the missing support discs at no cost.

On certain 2024 Mustangs, a rear suspension part called the knuckle — the piece that holds the rear wheel in place — may have a flaw from the way it was cast. A flawed knuckle can crack and fail. If that happens while you are driving, the car can suddenly handle badly and you can lose steering control, which can cause a crash. A dealer will inspect the rear knuckles and replace any bad ones.

After a dealer updated the computer that runs your Mustang's electrical features, the brake fluid sensor may have been left set up wrong. The result is a brake fluid warning light that stays lit all the time. Because the light is always on, you would not notice if your brake fluid actually ran low. Low brake fluid can make the brakes stop working. The dealer will reload the correct software so the light works normally again.

Your Mustang has a backup sensor that tells the power steering system how hard you are turning the wheel. On these cars it may have been set up wrong, and when that happens the steering wheel can move side to side by itself even though you are holding it steady. That makes the car hard to control. On certain 2024 Mustangs, the clutch pressure line may not be held in place properly and can touch hot exhaust parts. The heat can melt the line, which leads to a brake fluid leak. The brake pedal assembly in these cars may have been built wrong, which can leave the brake pedal feeling loose. A loose brake pedal can mean the brakes stop working when you press it. Ford is telling owners not to drive these cars until they are repaired. A dealer will replace the brake pedal and its mounting bracket with correctly built parts, and you will not be charged anything for the work.

Your Ford Mustang is supposed to light up a warning on the dash when the brake fluid gets low. On these cars that warning light may never come on, even when the fluid really is low. So you could keep driving for a long time without knowing there is a problem. Low brake fluid means the brakes do not work as well as they should, and the car may take longer to stop.

The main engine computer can send a false error signal to other parts of the car. That signal can shut off your backup camera and your reverse light at the same time, so you cannot see well behind you when backing up. One of the welds on the knee airbag for the front passenger was not done well enough. That airbag sits low in the dash and is meant to cushion the passenger's legs in a crash. Roush sold an aftermarket supercharger kit for the 2018 Ford Mustang, and some of the small hose fittings in those kits were made incorrectly. A wrong fitting can damage the fuel lines that carry gasoline to the engine, and gasoline can then leak out. Leaking fuel raises the chance of a fire. Roush is replacing the faulty fuel rail parts on affected kits for free. This only affects Mustangs that had this particular Roush kit installed.

These vehicles have a 10-speed automatic transmission, and a small metal pin inside it may have been left out at the factory. Without that pin, the transmission may not actually hold the vehicle in Park, even though you moved the shifter to Park and the dashboard shows Park. On certain 2018 Mustangs with an automatic transmission and the large 12.4-inch digital gauge screen, the display may not show which gear the car is in if you shut the ignition off while it is not in PARK. You may also not hear the usual chime warning you that the key is still in the ignition when you open the driver's door. So nothing tells you the car was left out of PARK.
