Ford Mustang wipers may stick on high in cold

NHTSA campaign 26V418000 · Reported 2026-06-30 · Ford Motor Company

medium How serious is it? About this label

Ford has not told owners to stop driving, so you can keep using the car, but anything that cuts your view of the road raises the chance of a crash, so be extra careful in cold, wet weather until it's fixed.

What's wrong, in plain English

In cold weather, the windshield wipers on these Mustangs may run only on their fastest setting, and the washer that sprays fluid on the glass may not work right. That means you can't slow the wipers down for light rain or snow, and you may not be able to clear away salt, slush or grime. The problem traces back to the wiper motor. A dealer will check it and replace it if needed.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your Mustang is included. 2. Call your Ford dealer and ask for recall 26C32, or Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. 3. Have the wiper motor inspected and replaced if needed — the repair is free.
