Jeep and Ram diesel fuel pump can fail

NHTSA campaign 22V767000 · Reported 2022-10-13 · Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)

high How serious is it? About this label

Serious — a stalled engine increases the risk of a crash; Chrysler has not told owners to stop driving, but get the free repair scheduled soon.

What's wrong, in plain English

These trucks and SUVs have a 3.0-liter diesel engine with a high-pressure fuel pump that pushes fuel to the engine. That pump can fail. When it does, the engine stalls, which can leave you without power while you're driving — in traffic or at highway speed. Dealers will replace the pump free of charge and will also check the rest of the fuel system, replacing any other parts that need it. Owner letters were mailed in October 2023.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your Wrangler, Gladiator, or Ram 1500 is covered. 2. Call your Jeep or Ram dealer, or Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403, and reference recall Z96. 3. Have the high-pressure fuel pump and any affected fuel parts replaced at no cost.
