Honda CR-V passenger seat back may not hold

NHTSA campaign 23V092000 · Reported 2023-02-16 · Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)

medium How serious is it? About this label

The seat works normally day to day, but in a crash it may not protect the front passenger properly, so get the free repair scheduled soon.

What's wrong, in plain English

The frame inside the front passenger seat back may not have been welded properly at the factory. A weld that is not strong enough means the seat back may not stay in position during a crash. Instead of holding the person upright and in place, the seat back could give way. Because of this, these vehicles do not meet federal safety rules for seats and for protecting people inside the vehicle.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your CR-V is affected. 2. Contact a Honda dealer to book the repair, or call Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138 (recall 6PK). 3. The dealer replaces the front passenger seat back frame free of charge.
