Toyota RAV4 accessory wheels have faulty valve stems
medium How serious is it? About this label
A leaking valve stem can lead to tire failure and a crash, but the notice does not tell owners to stop driving, so have the wheels checked promptly and keep an eye on your tire pressure.
What's wrong, in plain English
Some 2023 RAV4 vehicles were fitted with 17-inch black alloy accessory wheels. When those wheels were put on, the valve stem, the small part you use to add air to a tire, may have been installed wrong or damaged. A bad valve stem can let air slowly leak out, leaving a tire low on air. An underinflated tire is more likely to fail. The sticker listing how much weight the vehicle can carry may also show the wrong number.
What you should do
2. Contact your Toyota dealer, or Gulf States Toyota at 1-800-444-1074, to schedule an inspection.
3. Have the valve stems inspected and replaced if needed, plus a new weight-capacity label, all free of charge.
