Kia Sorento airbag warning labels can fall off visors

NHTSA campaign 23V579000 · Reported 2023-08-15 · Kia America, Inc.

low How serious is it? About this label

A detached air bag warning label will not warn occupants about the risks of air bag deployment, increasing the risk of injury in a crash. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

The airbag warning labels on the driver's and front passenger's sun visors can peel off on some 2023 Kia Sorentos. Those labels warn people about the dangers of an airbag going off, such as sitting too close to it. Without the labels, that warning is missing, and the vehicle does not meet a federal safety rule. Nothing on the car is broken. A dealer will check the visors and replace them if needed, at no cost.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your Sorento is covered. 2. Contact your Kia dealer, or Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542, and mention recall SC277. 3. Have the sun visors inspected and replaced if needed, free of charge, at your next service visit.
