Kia Sorento may lose power steering assist suddenly
high How serious is it? About this label
Suddenly heavier steering can cause a crash, so this should be checked soon, though the notice does not instruct owners to stop driving.
What's wrong, in plain English
Certain 2024 Kia Sorentos may have the wiring bundle for the electric power steering put together incorrectly at the factory. If that wiring does not work as intended, the motor that helps you turn the steering wheel can stop assisting. The wheel then becomes much harder to turn, which can make the vehicle difficult to control and could lead to a crash. Dealers will inspect the steering wiring harness and repair or replace it as needed, at no charge.
