A fire risk is about as serious as it gets, and Kia has not told owners to park outside or stop driving — but get this repaired as soon as a dealer can take the car.

What's wrong, in plain English

The wiring that feeds the fan for your heater and air conditioning may not be up to the job. That wiring can overheat and start a fire in the vehicle. Kia dealers will replace the wiring harness and the small part that controls the fan speed at no cost. Kia mailed owner letters in January 2026, and affected vehicle numbers could be looked up on the NHTSA website starting October 9, 2025.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your Sorento is included.
2. Call a Kia dealer, or Kia at 800-333-4542, and ask for recall SC351.
3. Have the blower motor wiring harness and resistor replaced — the repair is free.

Kia America, Inc. (Kia) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Sorento vehicles. The heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) blower motor wiring harness may be inadequate, which can result in a fire.
Safety risk
A fire increases the risk of injury.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the wiring harness and blower motor resistor, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 23, 2026. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC351. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning October 9, 2025.
