GMC Acadia and Cadillac XT5, XT6 Windshield Bonding Problem

NHTSA campaign 23V681000 · Reported 2023-10-12 · General Motors, LLC

high How serious is it? About this label

Serious for crash protection: the vehicle drives normally, but the windshield may not stay in place in a crash, so book the inspection soon; the notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

Windshields are glued to the body with a strong sealant that helps hold the glass in place during a crash. On some of these vehicles the windshield was installed without the proper sealant, so it may not be properly bonded. In a crash the windshield could come loose or detach, and people inside could be hurt worse. The dealer inspects the windshield, applies primer and sealant, and replaces the glass if it is damaged, all free of charge.

What you should do

2. Contact your GMC or Cadillac dealer about recall N232419690, or call Cadillac at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC at 1-800-462-8782.
3. The dealer inspects and reseals — or replaces — the windshield at no cost to you.
