Cadillac XT5, XT6 and GMC Acadia rearview camera fails

NHTSA campaign 22V709000 · Reported 2022-09-22 · General Motors, LLC

medium How serious is it? About this label

Moderately serious — it takes away your rear view when reversing — but the notice does not restrict driving, so check behind you the old-fashioned way until the cables are replaced.

What's wrong, in plain English

Your vehicle has the optional Surround Vision camera system. The cables that carry the backup camera's picture to your screen were crimped incorrectly when they were built. A bad crimp means the rearview camera can quit working altogether or cut in and out. When the screen goes blank you lose your view of what is directly behind the vehicle while backing up, which raises the chance of hitting something or someone. Dealers will replace the cables free.

What you should do

1. Look up your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your vehicle is affected.
2. Call your dealer or Cadillac at 1-800-458-8006 / GMC at 1-800-462-8782 with GM recall number N222378380.
3. Have the camera coaxial cables replaced at no cost; owner letters were mailed January 18, 2023.
