What's wrong, in plain English

On some 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV trucks, the wrong plastic trim piece was installed where the middle second-row seat belt comes out. In a crash, that trim can damage or tear the belt, so the belt may not properly hold the person sitting in the middle of the second row. GM says no one should ride in that middle seat until the truck is repaired. Dealers will replace the trim piece for that seat belt.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your truck is covered. 2. Stop using the second-row center seat, and call Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020 or your dealer about recall N242430730 (24V087000). 3. Have the seat belt bezel replaced — the repair is free; letters were mailed March 13, 2024.
