Cadillac Lyriq and Other GM EVs Can Lose Power
high How serious is it? About this label
Serious: losing drive power in traffic raises the risk of a crash, and while GM has not told owners to stop driving, you should get the repair done as soon as your dealer can take the vehicle.
What's wrong, in plain English
The wires inside the electric motor that drives the rear wheels may not be properly insulated. If two of them touch, the motor can lose power, and the vehicle can stop pulling while you are driving. Because these are electric vehicles, that means no power to the wheels at all. General Motors is fixing it by replacing the entire rear drive unit, the motor package at the back of the vehicle, free of charge at your dealer.
What you should do
2. Call your dealer to schedule the rear drive unit replacement, or reach customer service: Chevrolet 1-800-222-1020, Cadillac 1-800-458-8006, Hummer 1-800-732-5493, GMC 1-800-462-8782 (GM recall number N242447080).
3. Have the work done. The repair is completely free, including parts and labor.
