This is serious because a car that rolls away can crash or injure someone, and although the notice does not tell owners to stop driving, you should not rely on the parking brake until it is adjusted.

What's wrong, in plain English

The parking brake on these cars may not have been adjusted correctly when they were built. That means the brake may not hold the car the way it should, and the car can roll away after you park it. Because of this, the vehicles also do not meet the federal safety rule for light vehicle brakes. A dealer will adjust the parking brake properly, and the work is free. Owner letters went out in late February 2024.

2. Make a dealer appointment to have the parking brake adjusted, free of charge.

Summary: Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2023 Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Dodge Challenger vehicles. The parking brake may be improperly adjusted, which can result in a vehicle roll away. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."
Safety risk: A vehicle roll away increases the risk of a crash or injury.
Remedy: Dealers will properly adjust the parking brake, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 29, 2024. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 01B.
