What's wrong, in plain English

On certain Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 cars, the side curtain airbags that run above the side windows were built with a defect. The metal canister that fills the bag with gas can burst instead of inflating the bag the way it should. If that happens, sharp pieces of metal can fly into the passenger area and strike the people inside. Dealers will replace both the right and left side curtain airbags at no cost to you.

What you should do

1. Look up your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your car is part of recall 24V198000.
2. Contact your Dodge or Chrysler dealer to book the airbag replacement, or call FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (recall number 19B).
3. Have both side curtain airbags replaced — the repair is free — and ask for written confirmation when it is done.

Summary: Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) (Stellantis) is recalling certain 2018-2021 Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 vehicles. The right and left side curtain air bag inflators may rupture due to a manufacturing defect.
Safety risk: An inflator rupture may result in sharp metal fragments striking occupants, resulting in injury or death.
Remedy: Dealers will replace both side curtain air bags, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning February 20, 2025. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 19B.
