Serious: the car can lose drive power while moving, which can cause a crash, and while the notice does not tell you to stop driving, you should get the repair done as soon as a dealer can take you.

What's wrong, in plain English

Your vehicle has a part called the Integrated Charging Control Unit, which keeps the small 12-volt battery charged while you drive. Hyundai found this unit can be damaged and stop charging that battery. If that happens, the car can lose power to the wheels while you are driving. A dealer will check the unit and its fuse, replace them if needed, and update the software. Hyundai later issued a newer fix, so even cars already repaired need to go back.

What you should do

1. Enter your 17-character VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your vehicle is included, even if you already had the earlier repair done.
2. Call your Hyundai or Genesis dealer and ask for recall 257/021G (NHTSA 24V204000, now handled under 24V-868), or reach Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460.
3. Have the dealer inspect and replace the charging control unit and fuse as needed and update the software — the repair is free.

Summary
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2022-2024 IONIQ 5, 2023-2024 IONIQ 6, Genesis GV60, Genesis GV70 "Electrified," and Genesis G80 "Electrified" vehicles. The Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) may become damaged and stop charging the 12-Volt battery, which can result in a loss of drive power.
Safety risk
A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy
This recall is replaced by NHTSA recall number 24V-868. Vehicles already repaired under this recall will need to have the new remedy completed. Dealers will inspect and replace the ICCU and its fuse, as necessary. In addition, dealers will update the ICCU software. All repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 22, 2024. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 257/021G.
