Ford Mustang fuel line can leak gas and catch fire

NHTSA campaign 24V220000 · Reported 2024-03-22 · Ford Motor Company

critical How serious is it? About this label

A fuel leak near a hot engine can cause a fire, and a stall can cause a crash; the notice does not tell owners to park the car, but this should be repaired as soon as you can get an appointment.

What's wrong, in plain English

Some 2024 Ford Mustangs with the 2.3-liter engine have a low-pressure fuel line that may be damaged or cut. That can let gasoline leak out. If the leaking fuel reaches something hot, like the engine or exhaust, it can catch fire. Losing fuel can also make the engine stall while you are driving. The dealer replaces the low-pressure fuel supply line at no cost to you. Ford mailed owner letters in April 2024.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see whether your Mustang is affected.
2. Call your Ford dealer, or Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (recall 24S19), and book the repair promptly.
3. Get the fuel line replaced free of charge, and if you smell gasoline, stop driving and have the car towed.
