An owner who cannot see their VIN clearly may not recognize their vehicle is involved in a safety recall, and may not have the recall remedy performed, which could increase the risk of injury, fire, or a crash. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

The windshield may have air bubbles in the glass at the lower driver's side corner. That is the spot where your car's VIN, the number that identifies your exact vehicle, shows through. The bubbles can make the number hard to read, which breaks a federal glass standard. If you cannot read your VIN, you may not be able to tell whether your car is covered by a future recall and could miss a free repair. Dealers will check the windshield and replace it if needed.

What you should do

Find your VIN on your registration or insurance card and check it at nhtsa.gov/recalls for recall PMA38.
Contact a Nissan dealer to have the windshield inspected, or call Nissan at 1-800-867-7669.
If the dealer replaces the windshield, it is done free of charge.

Summary
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2024 Nissan Sentra vehicles. The windshield may have air bubbles on the front lower driver's side, which can obscure the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 205, "Glazing Materials."
Safety risk
An owner who cannot see their VIN clearly may not recognize their vehicle is involved in a safety recall, and may not have the recall remedy performed, which could increase the risk of injury, fire, or a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the windshield as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 29, 2024. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is PMA38.
