Nissan and Infiniti driver airbag may deploy improperly

NHTSA campaign 24V154000 · Reported 2024-02-27 · Nissan North America, Inc.

high How serious is it? About this label

An air bag that deploys improperly may not protect the driver as intended during a crash, increasing the risk of injury. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

Because of a manufacturing problem, the driver's airbag in these Nissan and Infiniti vehicles can soak up moisture. A damp airbag may not inflate the way it is supposed to in a crash. That means the airbag in the steering wheel might not protect the driver properly in a collision. There is no warning light or symptom you can check yourself. The dealer replaces the whole driver's airbag at no cost.

What you should do

2. Call your Nissan or Infiniti dealer, or Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669 (recalls PD103, PD104, PMA34), to schedule the free airbag replacement.
3. Keep wearing your seat belt and keep the repair appointment as soon as one is offered.
