This matters most in a crash, when the damaged belt may not restrain whoever is in the middle rear seat; the notice does not tell owners to stop driving, but avoid seating anyone there until it is inspected.

What's wrong, in plain English

The seat belt in the middle of the second-row seat may have damaged webbing — the woven strap that holds you in place. Toyota says the belt does not meet the federal safety standard for seat belt assemblies. If that strap is damaged, it may not hold a passenger properly. A dealer will look at the belt and install a whole new seat belt assembly if it is damaged, at no cost. Toyota mailed owner letters on March 20, 2025.

Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2025 Toyota Camry Hybrid, Lexus NX250, NX350, NX350 Hybrid, 2024-2025 Lexus RX350, RX350 Hybrid, and RX500 Hybrid vehicles. The second-row center seat belt webbing may be damaged. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 209, "Seat Belt Assemblies."
Safety risk: A damaged seat belt may not adequately restrain an occupant, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect the seat belt webbing and replace the seat belt assembly if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 20, 2025. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 25TA03 and 25LA03.
