Dodge Hornet backup camera image may not appear

NHTSA campaign 25V246000 · Reported 2025-04-15 · Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)

medium How serious is it? About this label

Moderately serious, since you lose the view behind you when backing up, but the notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

When you shift into reverse, the dashboard screen may not show the picture from the backup camera. The camera itself is not the problem; the display can fail to bring the image up, so you see a blank screen instead of what is behind you. Federal rules require a working rear view image, so these vehicles do not meet the standard. A dealer will load new software into the display, or replace the display if the software does not fix it.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your Hornet is covered. 2. Contact your Dodge dealer, or Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403, and mention recall 13C or 38C. 3. Get the software update or new display installed free of charge.

Summary
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale and Dodge Hornet vehicles. The display module may not show the rearview camera image. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."
Safety risk
A rearview image that does not display reduces the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will update the software or replace the display as necessary free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning May 13, 2025. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's numbers for this recall are 13C and 38C.

Verify your specific vehicle by VIN at nhtsa.gov. Recall repairs are free of charge by law.
