Ford E-350 and E-450 engine cover gets too hot

NHTSA campaign 25V793000 · Reported 2025-11-17 · Ford Motor Company

medium How serious is it? About this label

Direct contact with certain areas of engine cover surface in the passenger compartment may increase the risk of injury or burns to the skin of the driver or front seat passenger. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

These 2021 Ford E-350 and E-450 vans got an incomplete software fix during an earlier recall, so the problem it was meant to solve is still there. The engine cover — the large housing inside the cab between the front seats — can get very hot, especially when the engine idles at a raised speed for a long time. Touching it can burn your skin. Dealers will load the correct engine software at no cost.
