Your C-HR came with a pre-collision system — it watches the road ahead with a radar sensor and can warn you and help brake if you are about to hit something. On these vehicles, the sensor was never switched on at the factory, so the system does nothing. On top of that, the dashboard gives you no warning light, so you may believe the braking help is there when it is not. Dealers will turn the sensor on.
The rear seat belts in these cars have a locking part that is supposed to grab and hold the belt when it is pulled hard. On the affected cars that part may not lock the way it should. In a crash where the car is hit more than once, the belt may not hold the person in the seat properly, so a back seat passenger could be hurt worse. A dealer will check the build dates of the rear belts and replace them if needed.
Every vehicle has a sticker, usually in the driver's door opening, that tells you how much weight it can safely carry, including passengers and cargo. On these vehicles the printing on that sticker can fade until you cannot read it. If you cannot see those numbers, you may load the vehicle heavier than it was built to handle, which can affect how it steers, brakes, and wears its tires. The dealer will give you a corrected replacement label.
Toyota says the bolts that hold the rear wheel hub bearings in place may not have been tightened enough at the factory. Over time those bolts can work loose. If that happens, they can damage parts of the rear brakes, and in the worst case a rear wheel can come off the car while you are driving. A dealer will inspect the bolts and replace the hub bearing and axle carrier parts if any bolt is loose or missing.
These cars have an electronic parking brake — a button instead of a lever. On some of them it may not work right: it can fail to release after you set it, or it may not set at all when you press it. If the brake does not hold and you park on a hill without shifting into Park, the car can roll away on its own. Toyota dealers will reprogram the brake control computer at no charge.
