On certain 2025 EX90s, a nut inside the motors that raise and lower the power tailgate can come loose and fall off. If that happens, the tailgate can drop suddenly instead of staying up, and it could come down on someone standing behind the car. Volvo tells owners not to use the power tailgate feature until the repair is done. A dealer will replace both tailgate motors free. Owner letters were mailed November 24, 2025.
These Volvo EX90s have covers, or shutters, that sit over the headlights. Because of a software error in one of the vehicle's control units, those shutters can close over both the low and high beams while you are driving. If that happens at night or in bad weather, your headlights are blocked and you suddenly cannot see the road ahead, and other drivers have a harder time seeing you. The fix is a software update that a technician loads into the vehicle by hand.
On some 2025 EX90 models, the bolts that hold a second-row free-standing seat to the vehicle may not have been tightened enough when the car was built. A seat that is not bolted down tightly may not hold a passenger properly in a crash, so that person could be hurt worse than they otherwise would be. The fix is quick: a Volvo dealer checks each of those bolts and tightens any that are loose, free of charge.
