Your Bolt had a repair under an earlier battery recall that included loading special monitoring software onto the car. On these vehicles that installation failed. Without the software working, the high-voltage battery can catch fire when it is charged to full or nearly full. A dealer will load it again for free. Until then, cap charging at 90%, charge more often, stay above 70 miles of range, park outside after charging, and don't charge indoors overnight.

Your Bolt was already fixed under an earlier battery recall, when a dealer added software that watches the battery and spots a bad battery module. On these cars that software may not have installed properly, so a defective module could go undetected and the battery could catch fire. Until a dealer reloads the software, GM says to charge only to 90%, charge more often, don't drop below 70 miles of range, park outside after charging, and never charge indoors overnight.

The high-voltage battery in these Bolts can catch fire when it is charged all the way, or nearly all the way. Until your battery modules are replaced, GM says to set the charge limit to 90 percent, charge more often, avoid running the battery below about 70 miles of range, park outside after charging, and never charge indoors overnight. GM will replace the faulty battery modules free of charge. This recall expands an earlier Bolt battery recall.

The driver's airbag sits in the center of the steering wheel and is held in place by two fasteners. On these cars one of those two may be missing altogether or not tightened enough. An airbag that is not held down properly may not inflate the way it should if you are in a crash. A dealer checks the fasteners and tightens or replaces them, and if they still cannot be tightened correctly, the whole airbag unit is replaced.
